As the Spring season is finally really (mostly) upon us, and our Spring Show is just barely in the rearview mirror, the GROS will host Dayaneth L. Portilla, International Representative of Ecuagenera – Shows, Sales and Conferences of Flora of Ecuador & Tourism, and Manager of Ecuagenera USA Corp. For more than 5 years, Dayaneth has been traveling worldwide representing Ecuagenera in several international shows as an exhibitor, seller and speaker. She finds it an honor to talk in other countries about the flora and tourist wealth that Ecuador has, especially the knowledge acquired in these years working in Ecuagenera Research projects.

ECUAGENERA is a family owned company specialized in the production and the conservation of orchid species and hybrids. Since 1992, it has focused on doing much research, conservation, culture and commercialization with most of the orchids native to Ecuador. How do they grow in-situ? Which conditions does the natural environment provide to them? Ecuagenera has helped to identify new Ecuadorian species in the past years, and has separated out many more that are under investigation right now. All of these efforts are devoted to identifying and conserving Ecuadorian orchids. The talk will also cover how to grow various Ecuadorian orchids at home here in Rochester

Doors open at 6:00 p.m., meeting begins at 6:30 p.m., at our usual meeting place, the Louis S. Wolk JCC of Greater Rochester. The Show Table will be back, so don’t forget your blooming orchids. We’ll see you there!

NB: Since Dayaneth will be bringing orchids to sell at the meeting (and some of you have placed pre-orders to pick up), members are NOT permitted to bring in their own plants for sale.
