 The Genesee Region Orchid Society (GROS) is an organization of orchid enthusiasts located in Rochester, NY, but with members from all over the Upstate NY region. We have over 200 members and meet once a month from September through June. GROS is affiliated with the American Orchid Society and The Orchid Digest Corporation. Membership is open to all. |

Membership
Membership in the GROS offers many benefits:
- Nine monthly newsletters containing a variety of orchid related topics and details of society function events.
- Voting privileges for officers and constitutional changes. Family memberships add voting privileges for one other family member. Click here to see our Bylaws.
- Access to our extensive library. See the library page for details.
- Your name and address on our membership list. This list is not shared with anyone outside the GROS. It is published once a year in our newsletter. (You may opt-out of this listing if you wish.)
- Discounts on special functions such as the dinner party for the spring show and the summer picnic.
- The dues for single membership are $20. Family membership dues are $25. Membership applications are available here.

We've had a really wonderful year at the GROS! Our speakers were interesting and infiormative, our annual Spring Show was a great success, and through the usual daunting "assortment" of Rochester weather conditions, our members filled our Show Tables with many beautiful orchids.
Join your orchid friends for a relaxing afternoon of of food, drink (and orchids) at the Pondview Shelter in semi-bucolic Mendon Ponds Park.
As always, the GROS will supply hamburgers, hot dogs, veggieburgers, rolls, condiments, beverages (soda, beer, water, etc.) and place settings including plates and dinnerware (genuine plastic.) Each member should bring a dish to pass (hors d'oeuvres, salads, baked goods, casseroles, desserts, etc.)
Grazing, socializing and a short orchid meeting - with a Show Table - are the official "planned" Picnic activities. You might bring along a kite, a soccer ball, hula hoop, your bagpipes or whatever else seems appropriate. Bring your Significant Other! Bring your kids! It’s all free!
Regular Meeting Details
Our regular meeting night is the first Monday following the first Sunday of each month. We occasionally change the meeting date as our schedule requires, but we always list the correct date well in advance both on this website and in our monthly newsletter. Our meetings are open to everyone without charge - feel free to attend and find out what our Society is all about!
Meetings typically consist of a brief business meeting to conduct our club's routine activities, a special presentation on an orchid subject, an orchid raffle, and a show table where members display their flowering plants for everyone to see.
